Shade sails can deteriorate over time and a damaged or deteriorated shade sail is unsightly. Older less well-maintained shade sails attract mould or mildew that can cause respiratory irritation and impact allergies.
Shade sails often trap moisture, pollen, dust, and organic debris — all of which feed mould growth. Mould and mildew also weaken fabric fibres, cause staining and odour and can reduce UV and water resistance. This often means the sail eventually needs replacement.
